Pastoral visit to Lecce and Bari

Today, the Holy See Press Centre released the news that the Holy Father, Pope Francis will visit the Adriatic side of Italy in mid-April of this year.

Allessano is the place of birth of His Excellency, Tonino Bello (1935), located in the Province of Lecce, and the Diocese of Ugento-Santa Maria di Leuca

Molfetta is the Diocese where His Excellency, Antonio Bello served.  He died 25 years ago, in 1993.  Molfetta is located in the Province of Bari and the Diocese of Molfetta-Ruvo-Giovinazzo-Terlizzi.

The Holy Father will be welcomed by His Excellency, Vito Angiuli, Bishop of Ugento; and by Francesca Torsello, Mayor of Alessano.

The Holy Father will pause to pray at the tomb of His Excellency, Tonino Bello and then he will greet some of Bishop Bello's family members.

In the square located beside the cemetery, the Holy Father will meet with the faithful.  This encounter will include greetings offered by His Excellency, Vito Angiuli, Bishop of Ugento; a speech by the Holy Father; and individual greetings offered by the Holy Father to a representative group of the faithful.

Arrival in the area adjacent to the Molfetta Cathedral

The Holy Father will be welcomed by His Excellency, Domenico Cornacchia, Bishop of Molfetta; and by the Honourable Tommaso Minervini, Mayor of Molfetta.

The Holy Father will preside at the concelebration of the Mass at the Port of Molfetta and will preach the homily.
