Embezzlement trial continues

This morning, at 11:55am in the Tribunal of the Vatican City State, the sixth audience of the penal process involving Giuseppe Profiti and Massimo Spina, accused of embezzling funds from the Gesù Bambino Foundation, began.

The accuseds, who were both present, were accompanied by their respective lawyers: Antonello Blasi for Giuseppe Profiti and Alfredo Ottaviani for Massimo Spina.

The judicial panel was composed of Professor Paolo Papanti-Pelletier, President; Professor Venerando Marano, and Professor Carlo Bonzano.

The Office of Promotor of Justice was represented by Professor Roberto Zannotti.

Gianantonio Bandera presented his testimony.  The hearing, which ended around 4:00pm, was dedicated to questioning the texts which were requested by the Office of the Promotor of Justice and by the lawyer for the defence.

With an Ordinance, the Tribunal has renewed the testimony as it was given by Doctor Tommaso Di Ruzza, Director of the Financial Information Authority, and by the President of the Gesù Bambino Paediatric Hospital, Doctor Mariella Enoc.

At the conclusion of today's audience, the judges indicated that the next session would be held on Friday, 6 October beginning at 12:30pm.
