Agenda for the visit to Cesena-Sarsina

At the invitation of His Excellency, Douglas Regattieri, Bishop of Cesna-Sarsina, the Holy Father, Pope Francis will visit the city of Cesena to mark the three-hundredth anniversary of the birth of Pope Pius VI.

Having accepted the invitation of His Excellency, Matteo Maria Zuppi, Archbishop of Bologna, during the Diocesan Eucharistic Congress, the Holy Father will pay a Pastoral Visit to the Diocese of Bologna.

The programme for the Pastoral Visit of His Holiness to the Dioceses of Cesena and Bologna was published on 14 April of this year, but has since been updated.  The entire programme appears below.

Departure of the helicopter from the Vatican heliport

Arrival of the helicopter at the Hippodrome in Cesena

8:15am
Meeting with citizens of Cesena in the Piazza del Popolo (People's Square)
At the conclusion of the meeting, Pope Francis and the Mayor of Cesena will exchange gifts
Speech by the Holy Father

9:00am
During the transfer to the Cathedral via automobile, along the way there will be a brief stop in front of the Piazza Ridotto, where the Mayor will unveil a plaque inaugurating a space which will be known as Largo Pio VI, but the Pope will not get out of the car

Meeting with the Clergy, Consecrated men and women, Lay members of the Pastoral Councils, Members of the Curia and Representatives of the parishes in the Cathedral

In the Chapel of the Madonna del Popolo, there will be a period of adoration before the Blessed Sacrament and veneration of the Madonna

Some sick persons will also be in attendance, and the Holy Father will greet them

Inside the sacristy, the Holy Father will meet briefly with guests currently staying at the Casa Accoglienza and with members of the organizing team

Visit to the regional Hub at Via Enrico Mattei: Meeting with migrants and with the personnel who offer assistance
There are approximately 1000 guests at the Hub

Meeting with the world of work, and those who are unemployed, with representatives of industry, Unions, Cooperatives and Lagacoop in Piazza Maggiore

Among the delegations that the Holy Father will greet, there will be family members of the victims of a massacre that took place at the Bologna Railway Station on 2 August 1980.
